Trail Updates

We created a simple way to link aspiring hikers on the Pamir Trail to connect and inform one another. If you’re interested to get connected, drop us a WhatsApp message or email your WhatsApp number and we’ll add you to the Pamir Trail WhatsApp group. In this group hikers can share current trail conditions, share knowledge about shops along the trail and hikers can hook up to hike (parts of) the Pamir Trail together.

Please check the Practicalities on this website for the info you need before asking the questions in the group!

We’re developing this page for trail updates on the Pamir Trail, shared with us by our local connections or fellow hikers (perhaps through the WhatsApp group). It could be a broken bridge denying a river crossing, a path washed away by a landslide or even things like political unrest.

Trail updates 2026

24 May - section 6B: After careful deliberation, we now advise to start section 6B from the last week of September, not earlier. This is based on first-hand experiences in 2025.

24 May - all sections: This month we updated a significant number of stages. Some changes are minor, but there are some bigger diversions. Please download the GPX files again (including the full route) to avoid taking the outdated route.

24 May - section 7: The Bartang road is blocked due to mudslides at two places on stage 63. One at the bridge to Jizev and Khijez. Cars can’t pass. You can probably hike it, but take care!
