Fancy hiking a section of the Pamir Trail in 2026?
In 2024 the Pamir Trail was connected from start to end and it is possible to hike the entire route now. While not every section is suitable for commercial trekking yet, we are teaming up with our local Tajik partners and international expedition companies to take groups in the summer of 2026 again to hike one or more sections. For the moment trekking expeditions along section 1 (Fann Mountains), section 8 (Rushan Range) and section 9 (Shugnan and Shakhdara Ranges) are being organised. New for 2026 is our collaboration with 360 Expeditions to explore a new route connection in the southern Pamirs, which may become a western branch of the Pamir Trail. If you’re interested in joining a group to hike one of these sections on the Pamir Trail, please express your interest via the contact form. For more details see below.
16 day Shugnon Trek - New Pamir Trail Route Recce
With 360 Expeditions we organise an exploratory trek across the Shugnan Range in the southern Pamirs. This is the missing link for a western branch of the Pamir Trail that we are considering opening. From the Shakhdara Valley the team will try an unnamed 4630m high pass across rugged pathless terrain to connect with the Ghund Valley. Although it’s only around 75km, we take 6 days to explore the route. For acclimatisation we first go trekking in the Jizev Valley, which is likely to be the start of the western deviation of the PT. The trip will be lead by Pamir Trail founder Jan Bakker. Click the button below to learn more about this trip.
13 day Fann Mountains trip - Pamir Trail Section 1
Our trusted partner Fan Mountain Travel organises two treks on section 1 of the Pamir Trail in the summer of 2025. Starting in Uzbekistan, we will start in the Silk Road city of Samarkand before crossing the border into Tajikistan and hitting the trail across the spectacular Fann Mountains. The journey ends in Tajikistan’s capital Dushanbe.

12 day Pamir Mountain Lakes - Pamir Trail Section 8
For our longtime partner Pamir Eco Tourism we are promoting the trek along section 8 of the Pamir Trail this summer. This is arguably the most beautiful stretch of the Pamir part of the trail, with bluer than blue mountain lakes, remote shepherd settlements and tumbling glaciers from peaks that are close to 6000 metres high. On this journey you’ll also travel along the famous Pamir Highway and in the stunning Bartang Valley.
